\u201cThe best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago,\u201d says an old proverb. If you have aspirations\u00a0of swinging in a hammock between two stately trees this afternoon, you\u2019d better not be\u00a0planting those trees this morning.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The same is true of marketing your business. If you\u2019re\u00a0hauling out your marketing instruction books now because your\u00a0sales have recently stalled, you\u2019re in for a bit of a rough ride. Why? Because effective marketing\u00a0takes a long time to start producing the kinds of sales-ready leads that will fill your\u00a0Beast\u2019s belly.* <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

How long? I hate to be the bearer of less-than-popular news, but you usually need 6-8 months after you start an <\/em>effective, consistent\u00a0marketing program<\/em>\u00a0before you\u2019ve got a sales funnel that anyone would think to call robust.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So the best time to start marketing is now, and hopefully now isn\u2019t your hour of need.\u00a0But even if it is, now is always better than later or never.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
